Statement by Patrick Brown

February 26, 2018

It was the strength of my family and friends that allowed me the fight to clear my name and make the decision to run for leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. Without them, this cannot happen, so I have made the difficult decision to step down from my campaign. Today, I am officially withdrawing from the race to be Leader.  I want peace, safety and good health for my family.  I want our Party to come together.

Today is a day for us to start the healing process. Campaigning and seeing so many people support me has been one of the greatest joys of my life, but with that came new concerns over the health and safety of my family and friends. The past few days have been incredibly hard for them, and its become unbearable to watch what they have had to endure.

Thank you to them, my campaign team, the thousands of supporters, and Party members across Ontario for their belief in me and for their tremendous support in this movement we have created together.

The Ontario PC Party of 2018 is one that is bigger than ever before, more diverse and more inclusive than any this province has ever seen.  I am so proud of the people that have made this happen.

I want our Party to come together.

We have a bigger battle that must be won.  We must end the disastrous reign of Kathleen Wynne and her policies that are bankrupting this province.  I am confident that working together, not against each other, our Party, our caucus, our candidates and our campaign teams can bring needed change to Ontario.  I urge my colleagues to support the People’s Guarantee.  I believe strongly it is a winning formula to improve the lives of every Ontarian.

Thank you to everyone that has seen me through my darkest hour and continues to believe in me.  Your love and support will always mean the world to me.

Thank you.
